Tella Tella Vaare Velugu Rekhala...

Back home for holidays, yesterday i had a great time binge watching Zee 5 Telugu movies. It all started with Bommarillu (remade in Tamil as Santosh Subramaniam). I love this movie mainly because of the bubbly Genelia. The knot was different and i liked the Telugu version more than the Tamil one. This was followed by "Shatamaanam Bhavati",  film with less known stars. This one emphasising the family values etc. This was followed by A, AA, a casual Indian movie. A trouble-free movie to watch. It was then followed by Geeta Govindam. A popular movie though, i loved this one for a plain screenplay (of course with lots of obvious flaws and poor on continuity etc.,), the movie scored well thanks to some good songs.

While Inkem Inkem is a super hit, i like the other one by Sid Sriram, Tella Tella Vaare Velugu Rekhala.... It is written by Srimani Garu, composed by Gopi Sundar and sung by Sid Sriram. This song is composed in Hamsadhwani with amendments to suit the modern styling. Usage of ghatam is quite effectively done with blend of electric guitar. Sri Mani uses the phrases "matti bomma" to describe a Goddess and it does the magic. The song beautifully describes Batukamma in folk style which also goes to a new level with the usage of Nadaswaram. However, i liked the song for its lyrical value which is missing in nowadays film music.

Tella tella vaare velugu rekhala  - Just as the fresh rays of the Dawning Sun on a fresh morning. Her face is radiating. Radiating energy. Just as the fresh sun rays drives out our laziness and injects energy in us, her face is doing this job. She brings in energy in me.

Pacha pacha pachi matti bommala - Just as a doll made of clay (yet to be heated or hardened). This also indicates that she is too fresh, or she can be conditioned the way he wants (the protaganist in the movie expects his wife to be like his Mother or he wants her to be conditioned like her Mother).

Alli billi vennapala nuragala - Just as a freshly chruned fresh-cream-milk (which always used to be much softer - In a Marathi Abhang, Jekam Ranjale Kanchale, Sant Tukaram says the the hearts of Sant is similar to a freshly churned butter or as soft as it).

Acha telugu inti poola kommala - Just as a floral hangings in front of our house door as to welcome the guests... She attracts everyone or welcomes everyone with her smile and a pleasing personality.

Deva devude pampaga, Ila devathe maa inta aduge petenanta  - (She is just) as if the Bhagwan himself has sent (her for me) and entered in to my house

Brahma kallalo kanthule; Ma amma la ma kosam malli laali paadenanta   - Lord Brahma with his bright eyesight has identified her and sent her to sing us all a lullaby just like our mother used to do...One should get peace to sleep. With her actions, she brings peace to him and puts him to rest without worrying about anything.

Vachindamma vachindamma edo ruthuvai bomma - She has just arrived as if she is the 7th season (remember, we have only 6 seasons but she is one beyond description that the poet refers to her as the 7th season that is unique but a blend of all seasons).

Harathipalem haayiga navve vadinamma; Vachindamma vachindamma ningina chukkala remma; Nattintlona nelavanka inka nuvvamma  - Just as the person who happily greets and welcomes every visitor, just as a shining star in the sky, just as the crescent moon (that is rare) - she has arrived. Vadinamma is a term used to address as relative in Telugu (sister-in-law).

Sampradayani sudhapadmini prema sravani sarvani  - She is well cultured, pious and a lovable Goddess

Yeda chappudu kadile medaalo talaavana; Prathi nimisham aayuvune pencheyana Kunukappudu kudire nee kannulalona Kalalanni kattukaalayi chadivena Should I become the mangalsutra (or the nuptial knot or Thaali) around your neck and remain there where I can keep listening to your heart beat always? (so that) I shall extend (y)our lifetime every minute. Should I become the pupil of your eyes and read all your dreams while you are asleep?

Chinni navvu chale nanganaachi koona Mullokallu minge muthi virupu dana Indradanasu dachi rendu kallalonna Nidra cheripestave ardha ratiri ayna Ye rakaasi raaso needi Ye gadiyallo puttavve ayna Your smile which is, like an innocent child, is enough for me! are capable of swallowing the three (whole) worlds (meaning she can digest any information and would keep it confidential and would never indulge in gossiping nonsense); You hide the rainbow in your two eyes (She is in control of her senses 6+1 common sense); Although it is past midnight, your memories make me sleepless; What evil (monster) zodiac sign is yours? Which moment were you born? (Why do you torment me like this)

(Vachindamma vachindamma edo ruthuvai bomma...) Naa oohallonna ooregindhi nuvvamma Vachindamma vachindamma ningina chukkala amma Naa brahmachariyam baaki cheripesindhamma You are the one in my dreams; You came to waive off my loan called ‘bachelorhood’ which i am finding it difficult to pay off...(unique thinking indeed)

Eekanthalanni eekantham leka Eekarove pettaye ekanga; Santhoshalanni selavannadhi leka Manathone koluvayye mothanga; We kept on wasting our privacy time by whining on lack of privacy; All the happiness, in entirety,  is always without a break (not being spent - he wants to eat the cake and have it too without getting reduced);

Swagathalu leni ontlo unda leka; Viraham kanumerugu ayye manatho vegaleka; Kashtam nashtam maane sontha valu raka; Kannir ontaraaye nuvvai needa leka; Inta adrustham naade nantu Pagabathinde napai jagamantha

Imagine residing in a place where one is not welcomed (meaning till date I had none to love or no heart welcomed me); The anxiety due to separation is no longer there and had resigned as it found impossible to handle us; The difficult times and losses haven't seen any kith and kin; The tears have become lonely without a shelter (no opportunity for tears); I am so lucky that the entire world is envious of me!

Nachindamma nachindamma nachindamma janma Neelo sagamai brathike bagyam naadamma; Mechindamma mechindamma nudutuna kunkuma bomma Noorellaayusshu antu deevinchandamma - I love this life as I am fortunate to share my life with u and be your better half; The vermilion on your forehead has blessed us to stay happy forever...

Just as fresh as the rays of the dawning sun, this song energises me every time I hear...
