The Annamacharya Keertana, “Jayalakshmi, Varalakshmi…” describes the splendour of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi in various forms. Jaya, Vara, Veera – denoting Victory, Blessing, Boon, Bravery, Courage etc., Annamaiah prays to Devi to bless the deveotees with Her generous presence. This kriti is composed in Lalita Ragam (Carnatic) and Taal Aadi. The composer reminds Sri Lakshmi of her great characteristics and qualities to shower mercy and take care of all of us.

You bear the excellent fragrance of the freshest lotus, You have surfaced on the chest of Shri Vishnu who resembles the Sky & the Ocean with his blue colour, with elegance, You are the Ruler of the Seven Worlds; the entire Universe, Now please rule us with poise!! Oh Mother, You are the lovely sister of Chandama, the Moon (When the Milky ocean was churned for Amrutam, the nectar, so many precious things along with Halahalam (the dangerous poison )emerged from it. Some of them are Moon, White-Elephant, White-Horse, Kousthubha Diamond, etc...and also SRI MAHA LAKSHMI. Hence Annamayya describes SriMahaLakshmi as the sister of Moon. You are the protector of the Supreme Souls including Brahmma who is the Creator of this Universe, You are the charming dear of Govinda and resides within Him, Likewise Please reside in us and bless us!!
